Current Projects 2015-2017

In February, Whiteheath Education Centre were awarded £500 from Kellogg’s for our breakfast club.  To win this grant Mrs Taylor had to pass 5 sessions of online training and complete an application.  This money will enable us to continue providing a healthy breakfast including toast, cereal, fruit and juice each morning for our pupils.

Asdan Recycling Enterprise Bid

Whiteheath Education Centre has successfully bidded for an ASDAN grant worth £600.

To receive this money, year 10 ASDAN students had to come up with an idea to enrich the current curriculum experience. The successful idea is a centre-based recycling enterprise where the centre will manage its own recycling and waste. The enterprise is based on the “3 Rs of Recycling – recycle, reduce, re-use.

The students concluded that the centre could be managing recycling much more efficiently – especially paper and card, but also plastic bottles. The money will be used to buy – amongst other items – some highly visual specialist recycling bins to encourage the practice around the centre.

Year 10’s will project manage the enterprise by producing a termly report and spread sheet on the type and amount of waste recycled. The students will also form proposals on how the centre can fulfil the ‘reduce and re-use’ part of the initiative.
